Could be A bit of truth in Uk school holidays.
I was experiencing massive spikes today around Drokners. I could have cried as I was so close to reaching Camp Rankor on new char when Lag struck and was disconected from server.
When I relogged I went to Ascalon in the Euro Servers and there were 9 English Districts open So there are alot of Euro people on at moment

Agreed. This is what a lot of us have been arguing: If ANet could just put out one-liners about what's going on (in this instance, lag), it would go a LONG way to shutting us all up. :eyeroll:
Communication is key. Let's hope they give some sort of notice about what's happening.

International district doesn´t help. Especially in Tombs. Some guildmates play on American servers so we play together in Tombs in inter dis. But we experience the same lags.

That's not stopping them, it's bypassing them andnot a great solution in my view
Thanks to Alex for reminding us to submit tickets, but I want to make it clear that it's not a problem with individual users in my experience. Whenever I've encountered these 'spikes' everyone in the group has been affected at the same time.

Well if you have noticed the later days there were HUGE ammounts of rains (like 25 days there was raining every day) and storms in Europe. Even major cities got some problems and the smaller villages even get flooded so badly that the poor people have to rebuild it from a scratch. Many I-net stations stopped functioning at all - many routes dissapeared, a whole i-net providers stop working, and so and so and so and so. I will give you an example: I live near coast and in country where the floods were one of the less damaging, thus the Coast position stoped the flooding, anyway - for a lightning storm for 1.5 hours, half the city was OUT of internet?!? Even most of the cables are underground the switches are not. Switches and other things that are protected by electricty shocks just burned out...by...well electricity shocks.
So it is not only Guildwars but all the net.

Hmm don't think that's the problem, it's only on Anet's side. My connection is fine outside of GW.

If you are experiencing problems, the best way to get the problem solved is to send us a ticket. Lots of grumbling on the forums doesn't tell us much about what is actually going on.
Quote:
Well it looks like we arnt going to hear a word from A.net about it on these forums, and iv heard rumours that technical support just asks for masses of info about your PC and connection before telling you its probably a problem with ram or something.
|
Don't rely on rumours. We ask for all that information, because it helps us to diagnose what is potentially causing the issue. In the case of the current lag issues, our support staff may ask you for a tracert, netstat and pingpath. the data supplied by these will help track down where the lag is originating.
It never fails to amaze me when I see players complaining about problems with a game and then refusing to contact the support teams. At the very worst contacting support might take a little time out of your day. More often than not, however, your problem will be solved. Sometimes it may take a while because the solution is not obvious. In these cases the masses of info about your system that we ask for can help.

Good point has a point. More information they have the better. Sending the info would only take out5 mins of our "busy" lives.
Next time I have an issue I give support any info they need, least I'm doing my part to help.

I sent a ticket yesterday, because I once again encountered repeated stalls. This was at Augury Rock, European English District 1, shortly after midnight central european time.
I also found a solution: I switched to Augury Rock, German District 2, in which there wasn't a single person. I was absolutely alone, and had absolutely no lag whatsoever, in town or in instance.
By contrast Augury Rock, English District 1, had at least 100 people in town.
It would seem the problem we're seeing with the EU servers is that resources have been partitioned so that the English servers are overloaded. I'm a bit surprised, I thought resources were allocated between districts automatically depending on load.

On the note there is massive lag at Augury Rock and the Ember Light Camp, due to the increasing use of bots in these areas.
Forget lag, I like to see a.net do away with these bots! Still again it requires people to report them, but surely a a.net employee could just login and see them in use in plain site.

Ah, just got a response from the GW support asking for tracert netstat and pingpath. I'll do this when I get home from work
Alex, can you explain the implications of this,
"We will assume your issue has been resolved if we do not hear from you within 72 hours."
This is after getting a response back saying they'll investigate the matter. I hope this doesn't mean that I have to keep replying to them every 72 hours to make sure they keep their interest in the problem

This is not just lag. What I experience more and more lately is 20-30seconds freezes. It freezes for that much (like packets weren't going through) then I play perfectly fine for another 5-10-15-30 minutes, then it happens again.
If it were botter-lag, it would affect my entire gameplay experience, at least a little. It doesn't - it flows smoothly all along, then it freezes. Mobs don't move, henchies don't move, I don't move. Squad mates usually go on smoothly, too. I tried to find tag info for the freezes but it happens to the same people over and over, in different towns and with different ISPs.
In my guild, it happens to 3 people: me, a guy from Florence, and a guy from Rome. It happens at the same time to the three of us, and we unfreeze together. We have 3 different ISPs, and live in different towns. Another guildmate from my town with the same ISP as I works fine all along without any freeze.
It's really weird - I can't think of any reason for it to happen like this. Let's try to provide detailed information on the problem.
EDIT: It NEVER happened to me in town - only while adventuring in an instancE!

That last EDIT I think is a valuable piece of information to report. The same with me, I never lag in towns. It just makes me think more and more that it isn't a connection-related issue...

Yeah, experiencing the same Freezes over and over again. It is like:
Leave a town, fight some... ZOOOOM, your character slowly stops running, the skills you activated flash their flashing and you're done dio for about 30 seconds after which you most probably are dead or at the end of a battle - on the losing side of it.
It is not related to connection problems on my side. I've had friends play and they all lagged at the same time as i lagged. If you ask around, everyone had a lag at that time.
But so far... it seems to be related to instances, as in towns i rarely get lag and when i do so, only when there are dozens and dozens of people (i wish we could activate an option to leave those huge masses of people UNLOADED while in town...i really, really don't care how they look, yet each time the game forces me to load the huge bunch of models...bah)

That simply means they want a response to a specific request within a given time frame. If you don't respond to that request for information, then it is assumed that you no longer have a problem (because you didn't supply the requested information). You don't need to send replies every 72 hours just to keep the ticket open. Just make sure you respond to any requests for information .
